What is a Hyperconverged Infrastructure (HCI)?

What is hyperconvergence? A good buzzword or something big next to a well-organized IT infrastructure? Organizations adopt cloud computing and virtualization and move away from the traditional model of calculation, virtualization and storage to highly efficient infrastructure. As business speed continues to grow, why should you consider hyperconverged infrastructure for your business?

What is Hyperconverged Infrastructure?

Hyperconverged infrastructure, or HCI, is an IT framework that integrates storage, computing and network into a single system. HCI’s key value proposition is to go to a software-defined environment where all operating features work on commercial, off-shelf (COTS) servers with a hypervisor (i.e. virtual monitoring device or VMM) that allows integration. As a software-defined IT architecture, it accesses all of those features in a standard “hardware-defined” system. At the very least, HCI integrates virtualized computing (hypervisor) with software-defined storage and software-defined networking (virtualized networking).

One way HCI creates efficiency is through nodes. Multiple nodes can be integrated to form computer sharing pools and storage resources. Because HCI integrates as systems together, it can reduce data center complexity and increase scalability.

Benefits of Hyperconvergence

While improving your IT infrastructure is the goal of your IT leadership, HCI has the potential to provide benefits that appeal to your entire C-suite. Whether it is an inexpensive solution or a fast-moving IT environment, hyperconvergence offers many important benefits without reducing physical resources including:

  • Low cost
  • Simplify infrastructure deployment
  • Increase the flexibility and flexibility of data requirements
  • It better supports traditional and traditional cloud workloads
  • Reliable business apps

Although the benefits of HCI are many, it is important to adjust and apply HCI in the construction of your existing data center seamlessly. Since HCI is a flexible system, there are many ways to achieve this transformation. Consulting with experienced solution designers, such as those at Xekera Systems, can provide you with guidance on changes from your current design and feeds to a simple hyperconverged system. Contact us today to discuss your data center infrastructure. contact@xekera.com
